The Sugar Island Nature Walk and Beach Access (S.I.N.W.A.B.A.) has been the project of the Sugar Island Fest since it's renewal in 2001. The current swimming beach is on the North shore of the Island and has been closed MANY times over the years. The group of volunteers, who are the Sugar Island Fest Committee, felt that a revival of the Fest would be a FUN way to provide the Island (and other) people a MUCH safer swimming area. The problem was that the Township Property that fit this criteria has a walk through a sometimes challenging path. A design and trail has been cut as well as a parking area and restroom facility. Once through the trail, which has many native plants and wildlife, it opens on to a wide, sandy beach with views of the ships and birds. Plans are to build a series of boardwalks over the wetland areas and hard paths which will allow seniors and handicapped access to the area.

The Fest, is the ONLY way funds are raised for this project and ALL PROCEEDS FOR BUTTON SALES, VENDOR AND CAMPING FEES ARE INTENDED FOR THE PROJECT.

While you are on the Island, check out our project on eight mile road. Maps will be available at the Information Booth during the Fest.
